The Live Music Archive is an online public library of live recordings available for royalty-free, no-cost public downloads. It is supported by the Internet Archive. The content is contributed and maintained by etree.org and other live music trading communities.
Selection Principles
The music recordings are made by fans at live shows, then uploaded to the LMA site or the sites of its partners. The uploader must be an Internet Archive member, the files must be in lossless format (.flac or .shn), the files must be named correctly, and they must be prepared correctly. Most importantly, the recordings must be of a band that is trade-friendly: the band must approve of the non-commercial distribution of its live performances.
Object Characteristics
Once the lossless file is uploaded, LMA converts it to mp3 and streaming formats. Users can download the entire show or song by song. Users can write reviews and comments for each item.
Metadata
Each object has Collection, Band/Artist, Date, Venue, Location, Source, Taped by, Transferred by, Keywords, and a Description (which usually contains setlist information). The metadata is entered by the uploader, so I suppose consistence and accuracy might be in question.
